Your eyes are among the most metabolically active tissues in the body. The retina is constantly exposed to light and oxygen, and the proteins of the lens have to stay clear for a lifetime. Both depend on a steady supply of antioxidant nutrients.
Carnosine Complex was formulated by a biochemist to support the eye through several pathways at once: the macular pigments that filter light, the antioxidant systems that protect retina and lens, and the nutrients that maintain healthy small blood vessels.
Macular Pigments & Carotenoids
- Lutein (600mcg) and Zeaxanthin (300mcg): The yellow pigments concentrated in the macula, which filter blue light and act as antioxidants
- Beta Carotene (2mg) and Vitamin A (500IU): Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal vision
- Lycopene (4mg): A red carotenoid antioxidant
Antioxidant Network
- L-Carnosine (12.5mg): A natural dipeptide studied for protecting proteins against glycation
- NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine, 35mg): A precursor to glutathione, the eye's own main antioxidant
- Alpha Lipoic Acid (5mg) and Coenzyme Q10 (5mg)
- Vitamin C (50mg) and Vitamin E (7.5mg): Contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress

- DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid, 6mg): An omega-3 fatty acid that is a major structural component of the retina

- Bilberry Extract (25mg), Grape Seed Extract (10mg), Quercetin (12mg) and Gotu Kola (10mg)

- Zinc (1.5mg): Contributes to the maintenance of normal vision and normal vitamin A metabolism

- B2 (Riboflavin, 1.5mg): Contributes to the maintenance of normal vision

How to Take
One capsule daily with a meal that contains some fat, which helps absorb the carotenoids.
Good to Know
Carnosine Complex is everyday nutritional support, not an AREDS2 formula. If an eye specialist has diagnosed macular degeneration or prescribed an AREDS2 product, follow their advice and check with them before adding this. Sudden wavy or distorted vision needs an urgent eye examination.
Warnings
Check with your pharmacist or doctor before use if you take another eye, vitamin A or multivitamin supplement; if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; if you take blood thinners; or if you smoke or have smoked (beta-carotene). Do not exceed the recommended dose. Keep out of reach of children.
